The American GI Forum of California (AGIF/CA), a subsidiary of the larger AGIF/U.S., a Congressionally-chartered Veterans and Family Organization, has partnered with Verizon to conduct an awareness and education campaign for Veterans throughout the state of California in an effort to prevent domestic violence in their families.
Recent studies have shown that recurrent deployments heighten the likelihood of combat trauma, that in turn, increases the rise of domestic violence. In addition, a strong connection has been found between post-traumatic stress disorder and domestic violence.
The AGIF/CA is providing supportive services and strategies, through the Veterans Outreach Program (AGIF/CA VOP) and the Verizon funded program, to help returning Veterans avoid and deal with violent behavior in their homes.
We thank Verizon for funding this program and for helping our returning Veterans to re-entry their lives by developing healthy and fulfilling partner and family relationships.
